Where We Gathered: A Shared Table With Diary 34
Share

Some gatherings are planned. Others feel as though they have been waiting for the right moment to happen.
A Shared Table was a little of both.
It began as a quiet idea, a desire to step beyond the screen and meet those who had been walking alongside us in the story of Kwa Kgosing. A desire to slow down, to gather, and to create a space where the brand could be experienced not just visually, but through presence, conversation and memory.
In Setswana culture, the kgotla, just like our homes, has always been a place of gathering. A place where voices meet, history and wisdom are exchanged and community takes shape. It is a space where one listens as much as one speaks.
A Shared Table was our way of honoring that spirit.
The Idea
We wanted to create something that felt familiar yet intentional. Something that reflected the homes many of us grew up in, where a table was never simply a table, but a place where people gathered, where food was shared and where stories were passed between generations.
The concept was simple: to bring together women and men whose work, presence and creativity shape the cultural landscape around us. From local designers, writers & tastemakers, to friends of the brand.
People who understand the value of thoughtful creation.
Rather than presenting the collection in the traditional sense, we wanted our guests to experience Kwa Kgosing in the way it was always intended; slowly, intimately and in conversation.

The Setting
The space itself was shaped with care - set under the vibrant sun of a beautiful summer afternoon.
We drew inspiration from the landscapes and objects that form part of our everyday lives across Botswana, elements that carry both memory and familiarity. From woven baskets, clay pots & dried grass to handcrafted ornaments & kings’ heads cast in clay. These objects were placed intentionally along the table, echoing the quiet beauty of Setswana homes and the environments that have shaped our understanding of design and belonging.
The arrangement of the tables itself was inspired by the structure of the kgotla, reimagined with a contemporary lens. Guests sat across from one another in long form, allowing conversation and observation to move naturally between them.
The palette remained grounded and earthy. Soft browns, clay tones, hints of green and touches of gold.
Guests were invited to dress within this palette, and what emerged was something quietly beautiful; a space that felt cohesive, thoughtful and deeply connected to place.

The Gathering
On the afternoon of the event, the air slowly began to fill.
Guests arrived in conversation with one another, some meeting for the first time, others reconnecting in a new setting. The table became what we had hoped it would be, a space for connection and pause. There were moments of laughter, moments of reflection and moments of quiet observation.
Between conversations, guests experienced the Kwa Kgosing collection in motion through a series of intimate walkthroughs where the garments were revealed within the space itself.
Rather than separating the clothes from the gathering, they moved among the people, allowing the collection to feel less like a presentation and more like a natural extension of the environment around it.
It reminded us that clothing is never separate from life. It exists within it.

What We Hoped to Create
When we first imagined A Shared Table, our hope was simple - to create a moment where the brand could be felt, not just seen. A moment where the values behind Diary 34 - heritage, stillness, intentional design and community, could exist in a shared physical space. We wanted people to understand that Kwa Kgosing is not only about garments, but about the women who wear them, the homes they inhabit and the stories they carry.
What We Found
What unfolded that afternoon reminded us why gatherings like this matter. The conversations around the table extended beyond fashion. Guests spoke about craft, about heritage, about the importance of creating things that last. About what it means to design with memory in mind. The atmosphere held a quiet sense of belonging. And in many ways, that is exactly what Kwa Kgosing was always meant to foster.
Looking Ahead
As the afternoon drew to a close and the final conversations settled, we were reminded that this moment was never meant to be the end of the story. It was simply another chapter.
The next offering from the Kwa Kgosing collection will arrive soon, a continuation that leans into heavier textures and silhouettes designed for the colder months. Pieces that carry the same spirit of home, presence and quiet authority.
Until then, we carry forward the memory of the table we set. And the conversations that unfolded around it.

With Gratitude,
A gathering like this is never the work of one person alone.
A Shared Table was shaped through the collaboration and care of many hands.
